Description
Purpose-Built for Extreme Short-Barreled Rifles Rifles with barrels under 10 inches (such as 7.5″ PDWs or 9″ CQB platforms) present unique ballistic challenges. The lack of barrel length can result in 5.56mm projectiles failing to fully stabilize upon exiting the muzzle, leading to projectile yaw and catastrophic baffle strikes in traditional suppressors. The SureFire SOCOM556-SB2 was explicitly engineered by the USSOCOM trial-winning team to solve this issue. By utilizing a slightly larger internal bore diameter, the SB2 safely accommodates yawing projectiles without compromising on reliability, backpressure reduction, or structural integrity.
Advanced Engineering & Total Signature Reduction® Constructed from a robust blend of high-temperature alloys and stainless steel, the SB2’s components are CNC laser-welded to endure the punishing blast pressures and unburnt powder erosion inherent to extreme short-barrel full-auto fire.
The suppressor utilizes SureFire’s Total Signature Reduction® technology, which virtually eliminates first-round muzzle flash—a critical requirement for maintaining low-light operational stealth and preserving night vision capability. Furthermore, innovative internal baffling significantly decreases back pressure and gas blowback, preventing the host weapon’s cyclic rate from accelerating and keeping toxic gases out of the operator’s face.
Important Procurement Note (Mounting Hardware) The SOCOM556-SB2 utilizes SureFire’s proven Fast-Attach® system, allowing operators to securely mount or remove the suppressor in seconds without tools. However, this suppressor requires a compatible host muzzle device and does NOT natively include one in the box. When submitting an RFP, armorers must ensure they explicitly add backward-compatible SureFire SOCOM Fast-Attach® muzzle devices—specifically the SF3P, SFMB, or WARCOMP adapters—to ensure immediate deployment capability upon delivery.
PAI Defense: Your Fully Licensed Procurement Partner Navigating government acquisitions for NFA-regulated suppressors requires a strategic, compliant B2B approach. PAI Defense provides the audited technical specifications—including the official NSN (1005-01-675-0311)—and streamlined RFP processes necessary to support procurement officers. By utilizing our Type 10 FFL and SOT licensing, your agency gains direct, lawful access to both the suppressors and the required Fast-Attach® mounting hardware without intermediary supply chain friction.
